2008 Fall Series—September 14 through October 5, 2008

All one design fleets welcome--Optis, Lasers, Laser Rad's, 420's, Sunfish, O'Day's, etc. Three boats constitutes a fleet. Four consecutive Sundays: September 16, 23, 30 and October 7. Skipper's meeting held at 12:30 p.m. Warning signal at 1:00 p.m. Series Cost $36.00, Daily $12.00. Registration starts at 9:00 a.m. on the day of the race. Lunch available from 11:00 to 12:45 for an additional cost. 2008 Fall Series

2008 Leukemia Cup Regatta–July 18

The Beachwood Yacht Club (BYC) Jr. Leukemia Cup Regatta has become a largely attended mid-Atlantic district junior regatta. The 2007 series had over 240 sailors, sailing Optimists, Sunfish, Lasers and 420’s with competitors from New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and as far away as Florida and Utah. 

  The regatta will follow traditional scoring and trophy awards for the top places in each class however more importantly; top fundraisers receive recognition and trophies as well as the opportunity to sail with sailing legend and former Beachwood sailor Gary Jobson

If you are not familiar with Gary, he has been the National Chairman of the Leukemia Cup Regattas since 1993. His many accomplishments include his position as ESPN sailing commentator for all major regattas, including the Americas Cup and the Olympics. He was the tactician aboard Ted Turner’s “Courageous”, winning the 1977 America’s cup and has been inducted in the Rolex America’s Cup Hall of Fame in October of 2003. On a local level, Gary has been inducted to the Barnegat Bay Sailing Hall of Fame in September of 2004.
